Who are We?
“Mexicanos en Uchicago” is a Recognized Student Organization that was created in autumn of 2009. Like its sister organizations across the nation-HUMA: Harvard University Mexican Association, Yale Mexican Student Organization, Mex@Penn:Asociación de Estudiantes, Mexicanos de la Universidad de Pennsylvania … – Mexicanos en Uchicago seeks to promote Mexico’s presence on and off campus through a myriad of activities including conferences, cultural and social activities, networking events, alumni relations and the strengthening of inter-university relations.
Although initially dominated by undergraduate students, the board has significantly grown over the last couple of months and now includes officers from the college, from The Harris School of Public Policy, from The University of Chicago Law School and from the Booth School of Business. The organization’s current projects include developing a Website, consolidating and formalizing alumni relations, creating a job market for Mexican and non-Mexican students, creating a student-run committee to help Mexican students in the application and admissions process to the university and hosting the conference “Mexico Tomorrow: 2012, Ideas for the Future.”
